Transforming a wasted space into a fantastic outdoor play and learning area
Cloverfields Primary School in North East Lincolnshire had a quadrangle space linking two building that was overgrown and not used by the children. The area contained a pond, overgrown lawn and dangerous broken patio.
The school wanted to make better use of this space, especially as it was a sheltered spot, to create an outdoor learning and play area.
To maximise the space we made use of the area next to the building to create a covered walkway which not only provided shelter when moving between buildings it also acted as a play and learning area that was sheltered from the sun and rain.
Working with a local Landscape Gardener the central area was laid to grass and the old pond removed. Activity equipment then finished off the area including a climbing wall and natural stepping logs.
