Innovative new Bike Nest scheme for two London Boroughs

Two separate tender wins for the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Sutton were awarded to Lockit-safe within a month of each other. The projects were a mix of cycle and scooter parking in residential areas, on-street, and in schools.

London Borough of Greenwich required cycle and scooter parking at 10 schools plus over 30 Bike Nests to be installed on housing estates and streets for residents’ use.

  • 100 bike parking and 150 scooter parking spaces in schools
  • 200 Bike Nest cycle parking spaces

London Borough of Sutton also had a mixture of cycle and scooter parking for schools and Bike Nests for use by residents.

  • Over 50 secure cycle parking spaces
  • Over 80 Bike Nest spaces

New online booking system for Bike Nest spaces

What makes these new projects unusual is the fact that in addition to fabricating and installing the Bike Nests, Lockit-safe will also be providing our clients with the means for residents to book their cycle parking spaces in a Bike Nest.

A new website is being created, by Lockit-safe, that will allow users to search by postcode, locate their nearest Bike Nest and make a booking to reserve the space (so no more disappointment when finding no parking spaces). If there is no space in their chosen Bike Nest they can either go on a waiting list or see the nearest Bike Nests with available spaces.

Despite the country going into lockdown at the end of March, we had started fabrication before that and are still working to complete the full order with installation due in May and June. To see our latest information regarding COVID-19 click here.
